Why Misogi? Why now? I came to Misogi at a point in life when striving had lost its appeal, but becoming still mattered deeply. Misogi is an ancient Japanese practice of purification. Traditionally, it involved water, standing beneath waterfalls, entering rivers or the sea, not as punishment, but as a way of releasing what no longer serves and returning to what is true. In its modern form, Misogi has become a symbolic practice: choosing one meaningful, slightly intimidating commitment for a defined period of time, often a year. Not many goals. Not endless self-improvement projects. Just one. What drew me to Misogi was its respect for singular devotion. It asks a quiet but powerful question: Who am I becoming by what I commit to?
THIS SMALL BOOK IS A COMPANION FOR ANYONE STANDING AT THE EDGE OF CHANGE
THIS BOOK brings together two traditions, one ancient and symbolic, the other modern and practical, to offer a humane, grounded approach to personal transformation. It’s not about fixing yourself or chasing productivity. It’s about choosing one meaningful challenge, tending it with devotion, and allowing your identity to shift naturally over time.
Misogi invites you to choose a single, clarifying act or commitment—something brave, meaningful, and true, that calls forth a deeper version of yourself.
The Harada Method provides the structure to support that call through daily practice, self-reliance, reflection, and gentle accountability. Together, they create a path that is both soulful and sustainable.
INSIDE YOU’LL FIND:
Clear explanations of Misogi and the Harada Method
Guided reflections and worksheets you can use at your own pace
Support for identity-based change, not willpower-based striving
A full arc, from choosing your Misogi to completing it with grace
You can read it straight through or open to whatever chapter calls to you. There is no right pace. No finish line to rush toward.
I offer this freely and forever, as my gift to you, because access to tools for becoming a better human should never depend on money.
