Less Wallowing | More Doing
I have spent so much of my life learning and have found profound pleasure in it. I am predisposed to great curiosity and am easily enthralled. This may sound like positive attributes - and you would almost be right. But, as we all know, it seems everything has an underbelly.
Books are an easy place for me to hide.
Classes and seminars offer me the cover of the “preparation” phase.
Buying supplies, making lists, and writing my dreams are critical to readiness. But if I am always polishing the silverware, when do I eat?
People like me, who experience so much joy in planning, can often spend too much time in that glorious headspace.
As I step into this new decade, I realize the biggest threat I face is getting side-tracked from action.
I need to “stop wandering about.”
I need to “toss aside empty hopes.”
And I need to “get active in my own rescue” while I still can.
But there are still a few books I need to read so the ancient ones can share their wisdom with me. Thank you, Marcus.
“Stop wandering about! You aren’t likely to read your own notebooks, or ancient histories, or the anthologies you’ve collected to enjoy in your old age. Get busy with life’s purpose, toss aside empty hopes, get active in your own rescue - if you care for yourself at all - and do it while you can.”
