Roland's Awesome Michigan Report

Miss ladybug thought this was exceptional work for a fifth grader. Having a mother who is a teacher has some interesting effects. 1) They want you to do the work yourself. They are not as helpful as some parents in this way. 2) They believe you can learn things and do things you’re not sure you can, so it’s sometimes stressful. 3) And, best of all, they don’t care if you fail as long as you gave it your best effort.

In the case of this Michigan Report, Roland got minimal assistance with the technical aspects of the graphic design software that he needed to learn to accomplish his vision. He is already a blossoming writer, so he was able to move through that part with familiarity and confidence.

Miss Ladybug was so impressed by the beautiful work he did with the writing, she insisted the report be featured on her website so children could see what they can do, even if they are still in grade school.

She was equally impressed with his graphic design skills and especially liked the faded background images, choice of font, and cohesive visual elements. She labelled this A+ work and did a whole seminar about it at the recent Literary Society Meeting.
