KNIGHTS OF THE SPOTTED BEETLE
There are so many lovely poems about ladybugs. They just seem to appear from nowhere. Not a single person knows who is writing them. Every poem says “Author Unknown.” Doesn’t that make you wonder?
Some people say there is a Ladybug Army that protects Miss Ladybug and the castle from “Book Burners.” It is said if the ladybug is very brave, it can become a Knight of the Spotted Beetle and receive spectacular armor for protection in battle.
Experts tell us when the ladybug is knighted, Miss Ladybug, writes a beautiful poem for them. Maybe these “Author Unknown” poems are really those knight poems? Many researchers think so, but nobody knows for sure. What do you think? Below are some of the poems and photos of some of the armor displayed in their museum. Just imagine how adorable this must look on a little ladybug.
This lucky little lady bug
Has landed here to stay
To make my garden pretty
And keep the weeds away.

Oh ladybug, I wish you joy
As you complete your garden chores.
I'd like to put aside my work
And join you in the out-of-doors!

With a butterfly kiss
And a ladybug hug,
Sleep tight little one
Like a bug in a rug.

I'm sending luck and wishes
All wrapped up in a hug
Good things should come your way
With this tiny ladybug.

Lovely little ladybug
Sent from heaven above
Please watch over my garden
And fill it up with love.

Never hurt a ladybug
We need them in the garden
Ladybugs help flowers grow
So we must give them pardon!

Little ladybug on my arm
You wear a heart as part of your charm
You joined me on this sunny day
Just for a moment then you flew away.

The Ladybug swims o’er the lake,
Then cross the swamp, for goodness sake.
She flies across a giant field,
Her secret message, safe, concealed.
The Ladybug climbs up the hill
To visit her friends Pres and Lill
She whispers softly in their ear,
“Miss Ladybug says never fear.”

When strolling through the garden,
If you should chance to see
A ladybug out walking,
Please say "hi" for me!
For ladybugs are good bugs,
They help the garden grow
They will bring you good luck,
So always say "hello!"

The ladybug's a beetle.
It's shaped like a pea.
Its color is a bright red
With lots of spots to see.
Although the name is ladybug
Some ladybugs are men.
So why don't we say "gentleman bug"
Every now and then?
