TATER & POTATO DAY

I don’t recall when or how it started. We’d have to get that story from my granddaughter Ada or her parents. All I know is that somehow her nickname became “Potato” or “Tater”, depending on your level of awe and affection.

She has since been regaled regularly by friends and admirers with potato-related articles, memes, and memorabilia. So when National Potato Day rolled around on August 19th, I just had to give a gift in tribute to my little curly fry.

I toddled over to the local Walmart to peruse the aisles for something suitable. This is where I came upon this most perfect of all “love potatoes.”

Although I knew the heart-shaped tater would be well-received, I think everything in life is better with a poem. Here is the one I wrote for Ada. You can see her reading it as well. The night was Spud-tacular!
