FABLES FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN
READING TIME: 2 minuteS

I learned a lot about hues from your grandfather. Watching him paint washes and tints all these years has helped me understand how to make things jump off the canvas or fall into the background.

Thinking is like that too. One of my favorite quotes in the Bible is “Seek and ye shall find.” A common interpretation is if you look for something, you will find it. So so true! You really do find what you’re looking for.

“Buddha’s Brain” by neurologist Rick Hanson talks about our reticular activating system (RAS). He used the example of when you buy your new car, say a red Camry, suddenly, you’re seeing red Camry’s everywhere. Now you may ask, “Where did all those Camry’s come from, Granny.” And I will tell you, they were always there, but your brain hue made them fall into the background. But now your RAS has given them a new tint and they jump off the canvas.

Always choose your hue wisely. Choose kindness, love, generosity, and goodness. Those things are so much better to find than bad motives, selfishness, and evil. But always remember, they are both usually there, faded into the background or jumping off the canvas. Your choice.

I love you,
Granny
