Read Books
FABLES FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN
READING TIME: 1 minute
You can’t get where you want to go, you can’t be who you want to be, unless you’re learning all the time. I think learning is of paramount importance in life, because it cultivates two key attributes: curiosity and wonder. The point of learning is to add to your knowledge base so you can analyze and synthesize information across different disciplines, create new combinations, and grow as a human and maybe create some goodness along the way.
One of the best ways to learn is to read books, and the best books to read are the ones that have stood the test of time. Now you may ask, “How much time, Granny?” The time depends on the subject. For example, books on relationships can be a lot older than books on artificial intelligence because one subject changes faster than the other. But, even in these cases, there is much to be learned from great thinkers on any topic no matter how long ago they were written. Remember, the point of reading is learning. The point of learning is knowledge, wonder, and curiosity. The goal of those attributes is a fully lived life.
I love you,
Granny
