The Advent Calendar

I have been waiting a full year for this bizarre fun! It actually started over 20 years ago when I finally became a grandmother. For my first “Granny Christmas,” I bought my first sparkly Christmas sweater with hopes of delighting new baby Jaspir with its twinkles and shimmers. For each Christmas that followed, I purchased another spectacular sweater for the collection.

Last year, I decided I would secretly memorialize this glittering insanity. Beginning December 1st until Christmas, I captured a photo of me wearing a different holiday ensemble. (I have a LOT of sparkly Christmas sweaters).

This year, I took all those photos and made my husband an Advent Calendar. Behind each door is me wearing a different sweater! It’s crazy on crazy. He loves it. (Sorry about the low quality flash photography. I am an amateur, clearly).

You just never know what stupid idea is going to tickle the fancy of someone you love. I hit a jackpot with this one. We have enjoyed this little calendar every year since 2016 when these photos were taken.

What I really envisioned was that someday, if I had died, this calendar would remind Keith each day that I loved him with all that I am. I hoped by the time Christmas arrived, he would remember that he is the real reason I sparkled.
