Turkey Party
Halloween is finally packed away and it’s now time for indian corn, pilgrims, and all things Thanksgiving. This is one of our very favorite holidays. We love everything about it (even washing the dishes).
Our first seasonal party with the kids celebrated the centerpiece of the upcoming feast: the turkey. As you can see from the photos, we enjoyed a “cornucopia” of activities.
You can read more about our “Turkey Finger Game” by clicking the image below. Likewise with our “Turkey in the Straw” cookies. They are so easy and fun to make.
Here’s a link to one of the videos we watched. We sure love baby turkeys and were so tickled to watch one pecking through its egg. Just click on the image if you want to watch it. It will take you to an article about animal agriculture. It is the first video in the article.
Another highlight was learning about acrostic poems in preparation for the big Gratitude Poetry Contest that Miss Ladybug is sponsoring this month. Entries are due by November 20th, so we practiced with the word “thankful.” The goal was to think of things we were thankful for that started with each letter of the word “thankful.” Here’s our practice acrostics. We used words, but you can also use phrases or sentences. It’s uncanny how similar the girls’ words were given they did not look at each other’s sheets. They seem to be grateful for many of the same things.
