Keith’s 2025 theme is “PAINT MORE STUFF.” My 2025 theme is “LOVE EVERY MOMENT” (no matter what). Give it a try. It’s a productive hack to suss out what’s most important to you at 20,000 feet.

A lot of my family and friends think New Year’s must be a crazy, busy day for me because of my passion for planning and goals. On the contrary, it is one of the most leisurely of 2025. Keith and I spend it together with rituals we’ve honed over the decades together. This is all possible because my pre-planning was completed in December and my 2025 planning will be formally launched this weekend (Jan. 4-5). I have enrolled in an intensive 2-day online planning seminar. The truth is, my plan won’t be done until my birthday at the end of the month. It takes me a month to get all the pieces prepped. Maybe someday I’ll write out the workflow. And that’s how today is filled with a playful hunt for an open restaurant for breakfast, deciding on one 2025 theme for each of us, chinese food, time at the lake, love taps to family, jazz, candles, and cuddles.* It starts the year with the tone I want to preserve until this time next year. Let’s call it “heavenly peace” - and I make space for it wherever I can.

General Tso comes to us once a year on NY Day. A cherished meal from the long, long ago days when Chinese restaurants were the only ones that opened on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Here are the 2025 fortunes from our cookies. Sounds like I have a lot of work ahead of me - probably making wonderful things that are about to happen to Keith. Right? We had a good laugh over these and are even more excited about the coming year. Bring it on!
