“Jólasvín means "Christmas Pig" in Icelandic. Also I've got hat hair. Pretty bad. Both the pig picture and the snowman picture are in Reykjavik. The snowman was built by someone else; my companion and I happened upon it near the harbor while walking from the city library to the grocery store. The pig photo was taken only a few hours later after a Boxing Day dinner at a pub in the tourist quarter near the Parliament building. The pig is the pub's symbol, and they dressed him up for the holiday. If only we'd happened upon him at our Christmas Day walk, I'd have been wearing my Santa hat. But you can tell that we'd just emerged from dinner and drinks because I wasn't wearing any hat at all -- the cold hadn't yet got to me!”
