Stupid Granny | Her Stupid Pumpkin Poem
This is a poem that Granny wrote recently about Maggie when she was four years old. This was her Halloween costume. She won the Fond du Lac Costume Contest. I was there and I did not vote for her. I only like witch costumes. I think they are much scarier than a stupid pumpkin. Maybe I will write a poem about stupid pumpkins. Granny stinks.
MY LITTLE PUMPKIN
A felt stem hat
tied with love
around your tiny chin
weeks of newspapers
scrunched and stuffed
into that big orange bag
low marks for me
as a seamstress
the costume contest
was part of the fun
you took your turn
at the city-wide judging
among magnificent ninjas
hollywood scarecrows
bejeweled princesses
then little you
walked across the stage
smallest of all
with your sweet orange face
incredible to believe
you won
surely not the costume
YOU won, Maggie
innocence always does
