I just love Valentines’s Day. I try to write a special love poem every year for someone very special to me. This year, I decided to invite you to join in on my valentine poetry fun. You can use any form of poetry that you like. It can be funny, happy, serious, sad, or anything else you can imagine. That’s because, at different times, love can be all of these feelings too. Showa-no hi is the start of the Golden Week in Japan. Golden Week occurs at the end of April and the beginning of May and starts on the 29th of April when there is a national holiday for the birthday of the Emperor Showa. He was instrumental in helping his country rebuild after World War II and kept the people hopeful and focusing on the future. Many people take the whole week off and some businesses can close for up to 10 days including weekends blocked around the holidays.

National Poetry Month, a celebration of poetry which takes place each April, was introduced in 1996 and is organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States.
