Les Coccinelles Poetry Day

Each year, when all of France celebrates the beginning of their liberation on Bastille Day, we celebrate the beginning of our creative liberation on Les Coccinelles Poetry Day. Les Coccinelle is how you say “The Ladybugs” in French. We don our berets and head for a sidewalk cafe or cozy coffee shop to enjoy a croissant with strawberry jam, speak with a French accent, and write some fancy poetry. It is so very much fun. I love it - and I love you. - Miss Ladybug

Showa-no hi is the start of the Golden Week in Japan. Golden Week occurs at the end of April and the beginning of May and starts on the 29th of April when there is a national holiday for the birthday of the Emperor Showa. He was instrumental in helping his country rebuild after World War II and kept the people hopeful and focusing on the future. Many people take the whole week off and some businesses can close for up to 10 days including weekends blocked around the holidays.

I celebrate every year by writing Haiku. I decided this year I will invite you to join me for a 7-day Golden Week Haiku Challenge. It will be wonderful. Watch for details. I love you. - Miss Ladybug
